Mural Type: Commercial Murals
Our Mission working with Google was to develop and paint a series of interior murals throughout the Charlie's Cafe building within Googleplex. In total we developed and painted seven murals throughout various walls and sections of the building. The illustrated cafe murals in particular pulled inspiration from Google's history and the iconography within Googleplex itself. Part of that iconography stems from Charlie Ayers, whom the cafe was named after. His presence in the development of the cafe is embedded into these murals. Ayers' history leading up to Google in addition to his ideology on fresh, local and in season foods, can be seen woven in the mural's content. These murals feature illustrative line work made up from some of Google's brand colors being red, blue and green.
The Dish Drop Mural encapsulates three walls and is the largest of the three line work style mural paintings we painted at Google. Some of the imagery featured in this mural for Google includes local wildlife endemic to California and the wetlands that Googleplex sits next to. This wildlife includes a Heron, Honey Bee, Humpback Whale and the Dog Face Butterfly. While Google Iconography within the murals include Yoshka (first dog to visit google campus), Google Bikes, the Android logo, Building 40 (Charlies' Cafe) structures, and Spaceship One. Edible flowers, fresh fruits, hidden easter eggs, signage and patterns are sewn throughout the rest of the mural composition making a dynamic mural that allows viewers to discover something upon every visit.
The Buffet wall uses a bold green line work to represent the various images within the mural. Some of the imagery featured within the mural includes the Super G Logo, edible flowers, Stan the dinosaur (an iconic figure on the Googleplex campus and the official mascot of the no internet connection page of google), and a Monarch Butterfly. Additional key aspects of the interior mural painting include a homage to the Volleyball court within the center of Googleplex and the Grateful Dead logo (a homage to Charlie Ayers time with the Grateful Dead). Charlie's Sign Wall includes a Heron flying through the painting's composition. The Google Chrome and map pin site amongst patterns and local landscape environments.
